It is only stockholder greed that drives the right to know.
So let's say that Steve's cancer is back, and the doctors have given him 3 months to live. What would the return of cancer mean? It would not affect sales that much, but it would scare investors. Let's face it, Steve has been the great flamboyant face of leading edge technology since the introduction of the Lisa. Losing him will have an effect, but I believe Apple will survive. The conclusion of the the matter is, investors want to know about his health so they can sell their stock right away, if his outlook is grim.
He should have privacy, money is not more important than peoples private lives. Let's keep Steve and his loved ones in our thoughts.
