DRM-free music is great, but where's the hardware?
I agree with the story. The keynote was disappointing because of the lack of content, not because of Phil.

The few things announced fell FAR short of the many things rumored and widely-expected in the weeks prior to the show. I think most of us were disappointed that the only hardware released was simply another Macbook Pro. Where was the Mac Mini? Where was the I7-based Mac Pro? Where was the iMac refresh? Where were the 30 inch LED back lit Cinema displays?

It is no exaggeration that I had my credit card out of my wallet waiting anxiously to order the new Mac Pro. I expected them to announce that it was capable of executing 16 threads simultaneously (a boon for HD video encoding). I figured it would come with an NVIDIA 9800, and expansion up to 36GB of ram. I even planned to order this machine with a new LED back lit 30 inch Cinema display. Neither was even mentioned as a "coming soon" side note. Nothing. Nada.

The Apple keynote dropped the ball, but it wasn't Phil's fault. He was just the messenger and he did a great job with what he had to work with, which wasn't much. Disappointing is a very appropriate description for this year's keynote.
