Sure this is a big issue for established companies. Your points are completely valid. But once your competitors do it, specifically newer more nimble competitors they will have lower operational costs and thus a bigger competitive threat to your company. You just can't ignore 20 - 50% cost savings. It's a game changer. Better start cleaning up that data now while you have the time. Otherwise, polish up the resume.
