I might agree they will take a quarterly hit
but nothing more. Year over year, AT&T has a higher churn rate then Verizon, with Sprint by far the highest.

I do not see Verizon being overly concerned here, though the pre-order might have more to do with marketing then anything else.

Having a preorder event conveys the message that "these babies are hot and you better get them now", though no one ran out of the G1 or iPhone beyond artificialy set quantites.
