PC vs Mac
Hmmmm... I wonder how this might affect the feud between Apple and Microshaft. As the economy lurches towards a cliff, many people are going to balk at shelling out $3,000 for a new MacBook Pro. On the other hand, would it be more sensible to invest your money in something that actually works, rather than buy a cheap PC and play endless games with Vista, Internet Explorer and a host of other crapware?

The looming netbook explosion could benefit from our financial crisis, as people look for less expensive computers. Though I'm no expert on the IT industry, I would expect Apple and Microsoft to both lower their prices in response to this double whammy - a looming economic depression and a netbook revolution.

Finally, I would hope that people would have enough sense to see the bigger picture: Our economic woes are essentially symptoms of the rich preying on the rest of us. In that spirit, Bill Gates may at last be bracing for the blowback he so richly deserves.

Remember - the holiday season isn't that far away, and it will be scrutinized under a microscope. I predict that Bill Gates will be spending Christmas with Jerry Seinfeld, not Santa Claus.
