SaaS Unified Communications for SMBs
Unified communications on the cloud or as SaaS many not quite be here for big enterprises, but evidently all IT giants beleive it to be the wave of the future. Cisco's huge investment alone underlines that.

The fact is that going by SaaS, per seat pricing, it might even not be viable at larger numbers, the in-house model costing less. But notwithstanding that, the IT biggies still seem to believe that it IS the wave of the future, perhaps because of the huge attention divesion in house IT creates.

But there is a segment that definately DOES benefit from SaaS, the huge growing business market (less than 500 seat). Inspite of the downside (uptime problems for example), the benefits are too huge for this segment to ignore. Successes of SaaS players like . salesforce and hyperoffice , providing paid solutions to the SMB segment, realiably for years has created confidence in this approach. SaaS unified communications solutions are particularly attractive to this segment because of the breadth of fuctionality available at a single place.
