Exchange price misquoted by $196K?
In looking at the notes I see a significant error. There's a line item for Server CALs, which in PostPath's case is $87,750 for (presumably) 2,000 CALs. [Note to PostPath--CALs are a really bad way to license software; why imitate a disaster?] On the Exchange side, it's $65,325 for 2,000 CALs, but since there are four servers, that number is quadrupled to $261,300. However, you don't need a CAL for every Exchange server. You only need one CAL to access any number of Exchange servers in your organization. If I'm reading this right, the cost for Exchange should be about $196K lower, making the total comparison $111K for PostPath and $403,065 for Exchange. PostPath is still convincingly cheaper, but it's more like 30% of Exchange costs, not less than 20%.

Considering that Postpath has chosen the worst case scenario...  Confused by religion | 08/27/08
Well, they chose the same scenario for both, and 1 GB hardly sounds worst  DonnieBoy | 08/27/08
