I'm wide awake unlike some..

You don't seem to realize that the cell market is changing on a global scale. A shift in the global cellphone market towards smartphones has been underway for some time now. The driving force of this shift has been the falling price of these phones, making them more accessible to customers who would not otherwise purchase them. As a result, the standard cellphone is being replaced by the smartphone in most areas of the world. The third-world is the biggest users of standard cell phones and is becoming the emerging market for smartphones because of the price drop. With the likes of Nokia and Samsung already 'OWNING' the biggest emerging markets of India and China (and, hence, a third of the world's cellphone-buying population),there's no way a newbie in the cellphone business like Apple is going to get people who can't afford phones at the prices Apple sells them to get in line for an iPhone. Apple's business model is built around charging high mark-up. The world leaders in the cell industry make their money by selling in large volumes at lower prices. For Apple to compete for GLOBAL market share, they would have to do the same. Since that's not the way Apple does business, it's safe to say that the iPhone will remain a largely western brand with a small global market share.
