- No (desirable) changes in browseui.dll?
-
When you downgrade to the pre-SP3 version of browseui.dll, I wonder if there are fixes you're losing or are you just restoring the feature?
I used to use the address toolbar, but when it went away, I never tried to find out why since there are plenty of other ways to get the capability it provided.
CTRL+ESC, r will take you to the Run command, where you can enter
program names (either the executable, e.g., wordpad, or the common name, e.g., write),
document names (e.g., c:\bootlog.txt),
folder names (e.g., "c:\program files", including their more friendly names, e.g., "my documents", quotes not needed),
network resources ("\\Server\share"),
urls (www.zdnet.com, e.g.)
and probably many more things. Of course if you have more than one command on your start menu that has "r" as it's shortcut key, you'll need to use CTRL+ESC, r (multiple times), ENTER.
In my configuration, CTRL+ALT+DEL, ALT+n (so long as the Task Manager comes up in the Application tab) will also get you a text box into which you can enter what you want to run. - Posted by: JRElliott Posted on: 08/20/08 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
