I would say just give it some time -- I am certain there will be many cool applications that will be both fun and useful thus compelling you to share your location information with trusted apps. I had for example been playing with the idea of using fireeagle and google local search to automatically bring up pizza coupons for whichever location I currently am at. Here is an example of the app, and a blog post describing it.
