Especially the double standard
If this were a Microsoft service continuing to flounder like this I can't imagine what the outcry would be like. Not that Apple hasn't been rightfully raked over the coals either, but given the history of the techie blogosphere I can't imagine it would be on anywhere near the same level as a MS screw-up of this magnitude.

What surprises me is that a lot of people seemed somehow surprised by the services struggles. Several of my co-workers were .Mac users, but even they admitted the service and reliability were notoriously weak and all but one has since bailed. So the track record shouldn't have exactly led to high expectations. Apple does a lot of things very well, but this space historically hasn't been one of them.
