Re: Atom chip and the furture of handheld devices
The bleeding-edge in this category was 5-10 years ago, pioneered by the Palm Pilot, Apple Newton, and Rim pager. The next generation were the first smartphones, like the TREO and the Blackberry phone. The third generation came upon us with the iPhone. The (questionably) fourth generation were the first-gen netbooks from last year. These devices are trying to be the next generation. This market is way past the bleeding edge, and business have already spent billions on it.
