- You missed this part: "the songs would be yours to keep"
-
The whole reason Jobs and most consumers do not bite on subscription music is ownership. Most music lovers would rather own their music if given a choice. Subscription music has not taken off because of that simple fact. The only company offering subscription music that saw any success over the years has been e-Music. And that's mainly because they allow you to own the music you subscribe to. The only way Apple would offer any type of subscription music is what's rumored. You will be able to own that music at the end.
[quote]"Apple CEO Steve Jobs has always maintained that people want to download music and own it. That may be true to a degree, but there is a dirty little secret about all of this downloading. You have to manage your library. You own music you don???t want anymore. And you still have to go out and get new stuff. It gets old.["/quote]
What dirty secret? All three you've just listed has never been a chore for me and I would suspect most music lovers.
I have almost 3,000 songs in my music collection at my fingertips in iTunes; managing it is a joy even after all these years.
