The right build spec is the key
I do lots of research when building a PC whether it is Intel or AMD based. I haven't had stability problems with either. 3 years ago, I built an AMD system based on an ASUS A8N MB (with the nVidia chipset) and nVidia Graphics card. That same system has since gotten a memory upgrade to 2GB and a CPU upgrade to a dual core. It is still stable as ever and runs the latest games and apps without hesitation. While it could handle Vista, it is still running XP because I have no need to upgrade the OS. Processor doesn't matter as much as the motherboard does. Get the right MoBo and you'll have stability regardless the CPU. Then match other components to the MoBo. Never cheap out on the motherboard. It is you foundation to both stability and longevity for upgrades.
