Interoperability works both ways.
If you want to rip out that Linux server, the fact that it works with Microsoft products as Microsoft intends helps assure that you won't (what?) miss a beat by eliminating the foreign element.

You have many Microsoft products already and they're all made to work together even better than your current accommodation. Microsoft is entering new markets secure in it domination of the old markets. As the company knows, a friendly takeover is easier, faster, and cheaper than a hostile takeover.
