Vintage Michael Porter
Often markets will support a "tri-opoly". Michael Porter's works on competition tell us there are three ways companies differentiate and compete:

1) Build the best product.
2) Be the low cost provider.
3) Satisfy a nice or vertical better than #1 or #2 can.

Lots of evidence for variants of this in your list of duopolies.
