True, but...
I'll admit that I was surprised by the shipping cost -- it's a substantial fraction of the cost of the machine.

OTOH, I suspect that partly reflects the fact that free shipping simply gets folded into the overhead for most companies, and I respect that they really don't have the cash to do that. I kind of prefer that stuff like that gets unbundled.

And putting in perspective, the machine's still awfully cheap. After the $200 tax deduction and the possibly-useful T-Mobile service, it winds up still being reasonably competitive with the Eee and other super-cheap laptops. And given the good cause and the not-minor factor of getting my hands on one of the most *innovative* machines out there, it's hard to get hot under the collar about the shipping cost.

(And the Xmas concern doesn't worry me personally -- this toy's all for me...)
