Them vs Us
The thing that Dr. Doom and others concerned about the eventual takeover and/or deadly plundering or blundering by our cybernetic overlords fail to bear in mind is that these are extensions of our own intelligence, essentially our progeny - they are us, in a different form. Will our progeny commit any sort of self-centered malfeasance against the generations that preceded them? Well, has that ever happened before? I would say yes, but it is far from the norm. To the extent that we continue to care about ourselves and express our care in these non-biological intelligences, we can expect that the future for biologics will be in playing the role of treasured bonsai, doted upon ceaselessly by our exponentially more capable progeny. The important thing is to blur any them/us distinctions by embracing and even merging with our non-biological intelligence.
