At&t Is Really SBC But SBC Used AT&T As Brand Name
Your Question "Will AT&T Ever Go Fios" ?
Answer: Its Just A Matter Of Time & National Regulations Issues.
Some Test Were Made In A Texas City Just Outside Of Dallas,TX.
Many Years A Go,But Do To The Local & National Regulation Issues
That At&T ( SBC ) Are Facing They Have Just Continued To Test & Develope The Technologies, But As They Lobby For Regulation
Changes And Get Them The Time Will Come To Where They Can Do What Everyone Wants ( Higher Speeds & Lower Cost ) Than Cable.

As A Personal Note I Worked For Southwestern Bell Telephone In Oklahoma For 35+ Years In Both Non-Management & Management In
Levels Of Tech Support Services, Mostly In The Electronic
Switching Support ( The Computer Controled Switching Centers )
And Though I Am Now Retired, I Have Many Friends Still Working
Where I Worked. Having Said That, You Can Bet That I Do Not
Know When It Will Be Available In Your Area, But I Do Know That They ( AT&T ) ( SBC ) Will Be Rolling Out There Fiber Service
When They Are Sure That They Will Not Have To Sell Access To Other Providers At Wholesell Price's Or lower That There Cost.
These Regulations Are At The State Levels As Well As National Levels Of Regulation. To Bad That The Regulators and law Makers
Don't Seem To Want Real Competition In The (TV,Internet,Phone)
Local Area Markets. That Was What The !996 Telco Act Was Suppose To Do. Until Than Time Verizon Is Leading The Way,
To ( Faster, If Not Better Communications ), While The Future Holds Prospects of Even Faster Service At Lower Cost.
I Hope That (AT&T) Comes Out With FiOS or Something Better, At A Lower Cost and Of Course Higher Speeds. Until Then most of Us Will Have To Wait AS (SBC) Now (AT&T) Is The Local Existing Telco (Phone)Provider In Most State's, Do To (SBC) Now AT&T INC,
Having Bought or Merged With Just About All Of The Old Local Bell Telco's, That Made (SBC) The Largest Of The Old Bell Telco's Then (SBC) Bought AT&T, Then Switched The (SBC) Company Brand Name To ( AT&T INC ), So Remember The Old AT&T Is Not The
New (AT&T Inc). This Means They Not Only Have The Cash Cow To Install The Infrastructuer Needed To Roll Out These New Services,But Also Have Most To Gain By Really Competing For Your Business. Do To The Fact That As These (FiOS) Thye Services Are Rolled Out By Someone Else They Will Surely Get Droped AS Your Local Telephone Carrier And Will be Left With
A Never Ending Losse Of Other Local Phone Service Customers.
So You See IT JUst A Matter Of Time, AS THey (SBC) The New AT&T
INC Know This Is What Is Going To Happen. Remember That What
Happen To The Old (AT&T) When Is WAs Split Up From Being A
REgulated Monopoly. So Know What There Future Is If They Don't
Come Up Withsome New Technologies To Replace The Old Copper Wired Systems. AS Just My Thoughts.
