Until the Hurricane director Bill Proenza was fired for commenting on a problem(http://blog.wired.com/wiredscience/2007/07/national-hurric.html) did I realize what a chance Dr. Leavitt and Admiral Agwunobi took.

I was naive in thinking I could talk to those working for me and protecting my family and country.

The blog showed a well read, motivated and pointed citizenship. I hope it leads to more talks and actions. We have been through pandemics before, it would be bad that with all these computers, databases and the internet that we could not do a great job this time.

I hope the blog leads to harnessing the minds and will of the people to help the people and the world.

My fear is the HHS blog showed what many already know. We are unprepared. Y2K was a short term problem with a definite date. H5N1 is a long term, 18 months, with an indefinite date. Hence we are unprepared.

When the time comes how can we work together to solve problems when we are busy getting prepared. Admiral Agwunobi said "How can you lead people who are un-prepared to follow."

Fortunately the blog did bring people together with only a few scrapes.

Regards,
Kobie
