Google Checkout: Gaining momentum, but big retailers wary

I've used Google check out for the simple fact that it gave me a $10 discount as a first time user.
You can be a 'first time user' every time you register with a new email.
If Google payed me $10 for the transaction I'm wondering how long it can continue to pay people just to gain marketshare?
