I have used Object Dock without a start menu for about a month straight. I started using it on a tablet PC because I wanted a simpler way to launch applications. My experience was so positive that I moved on to using it on my main machine. I am a professional software developer, so my demands for a workable UI in windows are fairly highly. It is the single biggest improvement to my day to day productivity. Instead of having a cluttered start bar I have a nice little picture of all my running applications. Shuffling between applications is much quicker, and I can launch the applications I need (Visual Studio, source control check in / check out, debugging utilities, photoshop) without wasting time on the start menu.

These guys did a great job!
