Yeah... 'xcuse my harsh question...
I wouldn't rely on software/operating system (Firefox, Opera, Linux, Mac OS X, etc.) for security.

It's always wise to follow best security practices, not by means of switching software/OS for better security, but not click in links in e-mail messages, typing in the URL to legitimate websites like Bank of America and PayPal, etc. Of course, there are some scenarios where security is necessary, like in terms of logging into a Windows Server 2003 account from a workstation, like setting up a security policy in Group Policy Editor for user-based Windows accounts that are part of a Windows domain (where it can be done by the server equipped with a domain controller).
