Doesn't look so bright to me!
The way I see it, the US IT industry will implode. Companies want more knowledge and responsibilitiues form their IT workers, in ever increasingly complex environments, but don't reward that with salary incentive. In fact, salaries are backpedalling! And, considering IT workers are generally rather intelligent, many of us see the handwriting on the wall and understand the field is becoming less rewarding over time.

Why take on new responsibilitites, or bother to learn new, complex technologies, just to tread water or see minimal pay increases? Govt and industry complain about a coming IT worker shortage, but what do they expect when they are so gung ho about offshoring, particularly to reduce salaries of skilled workers, to boost the bottom line profits? And they will be in hysterics one day when they find a considerable number of the most talented US IT security people turning black hat, or working for foreign government interests, because those are the people who will pay them what they are worth! Homeland security is whining about the "playstation generation, that doesn't want to learn science and math".. well why should anybody want to study difficult subjects, when the matching jobs are scarce and the pay is depressed, even for people already well qualified for those positions (much less new talent!)? Pathetic!
