I don't see one
So you can't play WMA files, big deal. You can ripp you CDs to any format you want just don't choose WMA. Simple as that. Where's the Monopoly?

So I buy songs from other sites that restrict the DRM so tightly that I can't play them on an IPOD. I don't see that as Apple problem but the site in questions problem. Even I-Tunes allows you to convert your music to MP3 format or even WMV format by burning the songs to CD then ripping them to what ever format you want.

Also there doesn't seem to be a shortage of portable music players out there that can play songs from other services.

So I really don't see any Monopoly for Apple. They may have a lot of users who have I-Pods but that trend could change. Zune for example might pull it off, I doubt it though but it is possible.
