Betcha it does matter....
"having an open source application core is not an essential ingredient for most enterprises"

The number one issue with these packaged ERP/CRM/etc apps for enterprises is that they need customization. Often some hooks are built in...but prove to require expensive consulting deals to get the job done. If you think open source is not an essential ingredient for this type of application going forward...you're not paying attention to the fact that large enterprises are tiring of the exorbitant services deals required to get these systems up and running, and the ongoing maintenance deals required whenever there is an upgrade. The value proposition is in having your internal staff be able to do it themselves - and source code availability is indispensable for that.
