Clarifications
The reason why the current price of an eBay item doesn't automatically jump up to your max bid amount when your max bid doesn't meet the reserve is because it would be pointless to do so, when your max bid doesn't meet the reserve anyway. There's no way you'll win the item at your max bid price anyway. This is not a bug, but is designed to function this way. Also, many sellers WANT the reserve price to be unknown and hidden - that's why they choose to have a reserve price in the first place. This is not something eBay does; the seller makes this choice. Also, many sellers will tell you what the reserve price is if you just ask.
