Your best bet at present is to make sure that you have a roll-back, because there's no doubt that it is either that or you'll be caught up doing repairs/ reinstalls.

With regards to defrags, set it is an event and make sure the event runs at least every other week. The state of your drive, well you've only yourself to blame.
