You have finally reached the point
where you must consider human personalities to get better data. Using a workable model (I use MBTI), you will find out JUST how much you don't know about readers. If the MOST read news article is about Brad Pitt and Angolina - what does that say about HOW to market to ZDNews readers?

Science and technology are attractive to only a certain (small) subset of the population. What you call "geeks", I call NTs and SJs. NTs comprise about 12.5% of the general population (7.5% male, 5% female), but where I work AND on this forum, they comprise upwards of 50% (males at almost 100%). SO 50% of your readership comes from 7.5% of the general population! If you were to advertise to "the masses", you would miss your market and alienate your readership.

Raw readership numbers are fun to look at, but say very little that you want them to say. Until and unless you consider calculating human personalities into your data, you will always miss the mark.
