Developers will figure out how to use the power for sure, however as another here pointed out no one stays on top forever.
Thw Xbox Next will be as powerful if not more so than the Sony by utilizing software as well as hardware to make better graphics.
Programmers are already familiar with the PC approach to making games, so I think the programmers will jump right in on the Xbox.
As you may have noticed it took 6 months or more before anything looking better than the Dreamcast came out on the PS 2. The reason, programmers said it (the PS2) was hard to program for.
Look back at the Dreamcast and how there were over 200 games, nearly 300, in a year and a half, that never happened on a new console before, again the reason was the use of quicktime mpeg direct draw and windows CE OS. Very easy to program for and they didn't have time to push the limits on the DC because Sega got cold feet.
Never count MS out, or anyone else for that matter. What if Alienware were to make a console, would you say that Sony, just because they are Sony would do better?
Just something to think about;
