I know MS won't have access to the cell, but the last rumor I heard concerning the tech specs for the next XBox included 3 multicore 3GHz Power5-based CPUs... definitely much more powerful than current plain-jane PowerPCs.
I'm not trying to take anything away from the Cell setup, either. From every tech article I've read concerning it, that's going to be wildly powerful, and from what I can currently tell, it does seem like the PS3 will slightly edge out the next XBox performance-wise... tt just doesn't seem that the difference is going to be a massive step over the 3 multicore 3GHz setup, especially considering the graphics setup the XBox will have to go along with it.
In a perfect world, they'd both be introduced at $149 so I could invest in both of them, unfortunately I'm afraid it's going to cost 3-4 times that per console when they first hit store shelves
