- RE: Nintendo
-
>Nintendo was never a competitor
I disagree. While I agree the Gamecube currently appeals to a different age bracket than XBox and PS2, many (most) families will only invest in a single home console. For that reason alone, it's still competing in the market space.
>Still being a PS2 owner I wish I had an X-box, just a much better game console in my opinion.
I have to agree
I was actually never terribly happy with my PS2, though I know I didn't give it a fair chance. I sold it just under a year after I bought it (right around the time the XBox was released.) and never waited around for second and third gen titles. The XBox, however, I have been very impressed with, especially the entire LIVE setup. The entire online element is something I think they executed far better than anyone else has in the past, for any platform. I know a lot of people have concerns about submitting a cc number or the likes (I have some concerns about it as well,) but bottom line, MS has done a seriously good job with LIVE and I wish Sony and Nintendo would step up to the plate to match them.
>Still I can use the PS2 out of the box as DVD player where as I have to pay $50 to get that functionality out of the X-Box.
??? I thought the XBox DVD remote kit thing was only around $25. I've never bought it (I would if it actually supported progressive scan in DVD playback,) but I didn't think it was that expensive. I'm actually hoping the next XBox includes progressive DVD playback (even if I do have to buy an extra remote) because I'm out of digital inputs on my stereo
Whenever I do get the next XBox, something's gonna have to come unplugged.
