Get the Adobe DNG Converter...
This is not a new problem - it was a big reason why Adobe rolled out DNG in the first place.

I fair number of photo editting programs understand Adobe's DNG format. Get Adobe's Free DNG file converter and convert the proprietary RAW format pictures to DNG.

I personally have a Pentax DL DSLR, which records RAW in a Pentax proprietary format. I take the pictures, load them onto the computer, and convert them. It really doesn't take long. And if manufacturer support goes away, no problem, I have the DNG files.

There are a slowly growing number of cameras that use DNG as their RAW file format.
