I am on a 100M fiber optic line, I can download 40G in a "reasonable" amount of time.

Second, DIVX was created to be able to fit a DVD onto a CDR. So and HDTV program could reasonably fit onto 1 DVD or maybe even 3/4 to 1/2 DVD. Which can be downloaded in a reasonable amount of time.
