Always is one of those words one should try to use
VERY sparingly. However you do have some points, and yes at
this time it would be hard to imagine MS falling from the
number one spot. However who knows what 10 more years will
mean? I'm not saying MS will fall in another 10 years but still the
future from 10 years hense might look different. After all 10
more years of Linux/Open Source development will be very
INTERESTING! 10 more years of OSX development will also be
interesting, and what Apple might come out with for both
computers and other items, including software. Now what of
those 10 years hense for MS? It will still take at minimum
another full year for LongHorn to come out... What if LongHorn
is delayed yet again? How long? I would not think 10 years but
how long will the version after LongHorn take?

It should be a very interesting decade to come.

Now at what point does Apple stop being a niche player? A full
5% of the market? What of a solid 10%? 15% perhaps?
