Im with you...
I decided on Tivo units (yes I have several) since it was easy and someone had already done the work for me but this advertising has got to go. I purposely record my shows instead of watching them realtime in order to not sit through commercial after commercial. I was fast forwarding through commercial and I saw the pop up this weekend. I finished fast forwarding and had to pause my show because apparently the pop-ups are on timers and they dont do away after you stop fast forwarding.

I am all set to spend $400 and piece together a celeron system with a couple of 250gig HDDs RAID'd and an AIW card. I can set it to record and set the timers that have been there for years on set top boxes and it should accomplish the same thing. This way I'll also be able to keep the progams I want.

I think I might have just talked myself into it...
