If I Pay to Advertise on TV . . .

... and someone comes along and steals some of the screen/audio space that i've bought, even during recorded replay, i'd be . . upset. enough so that i'd sue. this won't pass muster. indeed, if tivo wanted to do something interesting, they'd work with the original advertisers (not the future pop-uppers) to make their advertising sufficiently interesting during fast forward that they would cause a viewer to press the rewind button to play the ad. in fact, why not a scene selection button that takes the viewer to the beginning of a specific ad (the one you're fast forwarding through)? heck, if tivo designed that right they could even sell that as a service to the advertisers .. customer fast forwarding through the ad's sees one that catches his eye . . press button and tivo automatically rewinds to beginning of that ad, plays it fully, then recommences fast forward. if the advertiser didn't pay for that service, then that button would be disabled during that ad. hmmm.
