Ask Fisher Price
You might ask Fisher Price, shaking toys that rattle in response to actions is an old field of research.

Maybe I don't understand patents, but my understanding is this:

1) You invent something
2) You're supposed to make and sell your invention
3) Making and selling things is what's good for world trade, keeps people employed, creates markets etc.
4) When 1. costs more than you can make from 2., patents were invented to create a monopoly.
5) Except for 4) monopolies are bad for business and reduce trade.

To me the patent debate has been hijacked as a free-trade issue when its the exact opposite. Ten minute scribbles on the back of a napkin can lock markets for two decades? How much to pay the costs of that ten minute idea?
