Got mine last night
Didn't preorder, didn't stand in line for days (or even hours.) I made 3 phone calls... the first, to EB Games, yielded no results. The second, to GameStop, also yielded no results. The 3rd, to a Blockbuster with a Gamerush was successful. They had at least 10 in stock that were not accounted for and they were staying open past midnight to sell them.

In the 30 minutes I've spent playing it, I must say it is an impressive system. The screen is beyond description. If nothign else was right on that system, the screen alone would still be a selling point. Luckily the single game I bought (Ridge Racer) is excellent as well. Now I just wish Sony would quit trying to convince the press that this is something other than a game machine. I don't buy the whole portable entertainment platform load. It's a glorified Gameboy for adults. Yes, it plays music, but getting it there is a pain and you have to pay an arm and a leg for enough storage to make it worthwhile. Yes, it plays video from your PC, but again, storage concerns, on top of the effort it takes to get the video there in the first place. Yes, it plays movies, and if Spiderman 2 is any indication, said movies look beautiful on that little screen... unfortunately the few movies coming out for it that I would be half way interested in, I already own on DVD. I'm not going to pay $20 - $30 for a copy of a movie I have on a DVD I paid $15 for. For the movies to be realistic, they'd need to be $10 or less. Any more makes them not worth the purchase.

I just wish they'd sell it for what it is, a game machine (a pretty sweet one at that) and quit trying to pawn it off for what it's not... an iPod, a DVD player, etc.
