Sony's insistance..
on overpriced, proprietary technologies that provide no additional value to the consumer is a large barrier to the adoption of the PSP as anything more than a gaming platform.

Memory sticks are overpriced compared to other flash storage media, and UMD is not used in any other devices. If Sony made an easy way for consumers to view their DVD collection on the PSP (ie. not having to buy the same movie again on a UMD - for which Sony has no plans to release a burner), I'd jump all over this device, though..
