No more proprietary stuff please Sony
I am fed up with proprietary devices - and Sony is always introducing them. They rarely offer me good value for money.
There is another device which could one day become a competitor on a small scale. It has many similar features to the PSP, but you can rip your existing DVDs onto SD cards to watch them, it has tons of other features as well. My favourite is the guardian feature - the device is used by my son - I can send a text and receive a text back that tells me what address my son is at. How cool it that! I have the device and it works (it went on sale on Saturday in the UK). It is called the Gizmondo. It goes to the US at some point later this year. Another feature is that my son can press a panic button and I receive a text telling me where he is and to go collect him. Add movies games music etc, and I think we really are getting to convergence. Of course it is touch and go if this can compete with something as big as Sony ? but it is better technology ? and non proprietary!
