Still while you points are valid you seem to be ignoring
the other side of the equations. Most important is that the iPod
is not stagnant. It has changed and yes even lowered in price.
Also Apple has the ability to at anytime it chooses add WMA
support and the music rental model that the likes of Napster is
using.

The simple fact of the matter is iTunes and the iPod are the all in
one solution that to date no one has matched...and an even
more important fact is that iTunes and the iPod are not locked
into anything or any one model and have shown themselves to
be very nimble and ever changing in features/abilities and the all
important price structure.
