It won't die in the next few month, it will slowly lose market share to cheaper devices that copy it's features over the course of years. As does any device once they are copied by someone who can manufacture it in india, or malaysia, etc. It will probably remain the #1 music player for a long time due to loyalty of the fad buyers. And I'm sure it will soon be an ipod phone, and picture device, and earing, and etc. Until there is a whole I-world of stuff. The only real threat to it would be a portable satellite walkman thaat could store tunes, which I would buy as soon as Sirius hits the market with one. I'm just saying that the IPOD hit the market at a time when everyone was tired of buying the next best pda, or phone, or whatever. It was trendy, they made it sound good to buy one, and conviced alot of people that buying one would instantly make you cool, and pretty soon U2 would be throwing concerts in your living room while they cook you corned beef and cabbage. I'm just not buying it, I didn't. I'm not saying that you shouldn't, go right ahead if you like it. I'm just saying that many people ran out and got them on a whim.....and an expensive whim at that. It wasn't even the point of my original reply....but it seems that people are touchy abou the fact that they bought one.
