I would also agree that they both computers and certainly
software have yet to become commodities. Still it does for the
vast majority of the hardware makers (with the possible
exception of Apple) seem to be heading in that direction with a
damn the torpedoes full steem ahead like attitude.

I especially liked it when the head of MS...a Mr. Balmer gave a
fairly recent talk where he wanted the $100.00 PC (or something
to that effect) and I had to wonder what that in turn would do to
the price of Windows itself? After all at what price would the
average use be willing to purchase Windows for if their brand
spanking new PC only cost them a hundred dollars?

Still I do not doubt that at the rate things are going a hundred
dollar PC is not long in coming.
