Eye candy is useless if the game is not "FUN".

It doesn't matter how real you make the game if it's not fun.

Sure you could make the most realistic game of clean ing the house, rendering every dust buny perfectly but it's wouldn't sell. Why, because cleaning the house isn't fun video game or otherwise.

Why is that so hard to understand? Do you play video games?

I'm not talking going back to pong days here but if you have a 20 million dollar budget and you blow it all on a physics engine that works just like real life and then through a stupid story with some stupid puzzles into a game it will suck. I've seen game companies do exactly that.

It's just like making movies. Blow you budget on 1 big special effect and hired bad actors, a bad script writer, bad everything else and you get a bad movie.

It just burns me up when they hype a game on 1 feature and the game turns out to be crap. You sit there going "oh that's neat" then looking at the waste of $70.

Game development starts before you even get to coding.
