No IP was devulged
There was no damage done, in fact it only helped them

first of all to be a trade secret it would have to devulge the technical secret inside (i.e. - schematics, code, Patents, ingrediaents,). Devulging that a new car is being built by ford before they tell you it's being released to the public is not IP or a trade secret. That's life, it happens, or are you gonna gag every employee from talking to their sposue or relative.

Trade secret laws were made so no technical knowledge gets out, like how to manufacture the product. Not what the product will do, or look like. It's kind hard keeping that a secret considering you have advertisers you are woking with and art designers (not in your company), which do not have to follow the same rules.

Now the fact that free speech supercedes the trade secret law (only except in national security). Why is that so, because it's necessary in a democracy to get to the truth (in corruption cases/government waste/deceitful prcatices of business)

case in pint the tobacco industry and the papers that were leak to the press on the manufacturing of their products (increase nicotine levels to increase addiction, as well as hiding their own studies which found tobacco harmful - causes cancer ), their advertising campaigns (targeting minors).

Or how about government corruption where the government could say it was a secret and hide the truth and use their powers to muzzle whistleblowers.

Free speech is a right, defend it or you will wind up in a country where corruption reigns and crime pays
