When you're listening on the bus (or subway)...
When you're listening on the bus (or subway), do you suppose you can actually hear those extra 9 dB of signal/noise ratio? Heck, even in a quiet room (with, say 20 or 30 dBA of ambient noise), do you think you can hear them? That would require that your peak volume be well up there in the "threshold of pain" region.

The difference between 89 dB and 98 dB of signal/noise ratio is no reason to choose one portable player over the other.
