There's nothing wrong with convergence, if the product in question performs each function as well as a stand-alone device. As you said, we're not at that point yet.

One issue with cameras is always going to be lens quality. You're not going to get very good optics with a tiny plastic lens, no matter how many megapixels of storage your phone camera adds.
