We've had little to no problem with our Dells
Of course, anything was better than the problems we had dealing with Gateway. It seemed that whenever we ordered a Lot of Gateways, majority would ship with the same faulty components leading to the envitable call to the tech support (really they should have had me and others at the workplace on first name basis because it became the prob of the week with em (though I gave them props for friendly and localized help at the time).

With Dell, there's been no real buzz about bad components just talk about the not so recent shifting of support to non local call centers and more automated responses than quality live call/shared web sessions. Plus, it seems like they like to bury the phone numbers so deep on the website that you'd rather quit trying than fish em out.

Always wanted to go with IBM, but as one of the buyers put it, IBM makes the mistake of treating the consumer/lower business end of their product lines like the big iron end, with making their pricing and configurations not so easy on the end user to deal with, as well as a often confusing configuration interface. Guess in part that's the modern problem of cycling PCs in and out on a timetable shorter than the equipment's lifespan, especially if the vendor believes in the dollar value and lifespan of the units.

HP/Compaq, . . don't mention em unless you're talking printers, elsewise, a curse on em.
