Dell cuts lead, beefs up security in business PCs

Not so if you've been in the industry a while

Don't know which you read, but the ones I've read (PC Mag, Computer Shopper, etc) Dell is middle of the road. And downright crappy in certain configurations.

"-tweaked is a good thing in my book. I guess it depends on what your doing with the system. Gamers and graphics people usually upgrade vids often while office people do not. Never seen a problem here. First I've heard of even an issue with a NIC card. Most of the time, in Dells, thats intergrated into the MB. So it's the MB manufacturer who provides the drivers. MB manufacturers update their bios and drivers all the time."

I meant tweaked in a bad sense. Like a specialized video BIOS that requires you to use Dell's driver VS, say nVidida's. Or not being able to use the generic Intel MB drivers (Dell uses stripped Intel MB's), etc.

"That's your view and your welcome to it. Dell's do have their place and I would think if everyone was having the same problems as you Dell wouldn't be the largest, most profitable computer maker."

At one time Compaq was. At another time IBM was. The PC industry is cyclical....

Here's one for you: over 80% of PC buyers DO NOT choose Dell to fill their PC needs. Dell may be the largest out of a fragmented market, but they are far from the best.
